Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art | New York, which included the work Indian Rider (Patriot Sphynx) by Saul Steinberg. The »bidding war« ended at USD 17,640.00 (€ 15,585.79), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Saul Steinberg have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Twenty Americans (Twenty Professions) in November last year with an auction result of USD 113,400.00 (€ 109,851.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art | New York durch, in der auch die Arbeit Indian Rider (Patriot Sphynx) von Saul Steinberg zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 17.640,00 (€ 15.585,79) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Saul Steinberg auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Twenty Americans (Twenty Professions) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 113.400,00 (€ 109.851,79).
