Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Sanford Robinson Gifford could be acquired at Christies in New York in November 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Lake Winnipesaukee changed hands for USD 187,500.00 (€ 165,592.16) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sanford Robinson Gifford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Lake Twilight in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 2,900,000.00 (€ 2,601,130.15).
