Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Sanford Robinson Gifford could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the The American Scene including Important Photographs from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation auction, the work Mrs. Sanford Robinson Gifford (Mary Cecelia Gifford) changed hands for USD 5,292.00 (€ 4,931.51) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sanford Robinson Gifford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Lake Twilight in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 2,900,000.00 (€ 2,601,130.15).
