In January this year Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century American Art, which included the work Swiss Alps by Sanford Robinson Gifford. The »bidding war« ended at USD 27,720.00 (€ 25,529.56), 54% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sanford Robinson Gifford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Lake Twilight in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 2,900,000.00 (€ 2,601,130.15).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 54 % übertroffen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 19th Century American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Swiss Alps von Sanford Robinson Gifford zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 27.720,00 (€ 25.529,56) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sanford Robinson Gifford erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Lake Twilight im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.900.000,00 (€ 2.601.130,15).
