Auction result well in line with expectations
In January last year Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century American Art, which included the work Indians at Sunset (Sunset in the Wilderness) by Sanford Robinson Gifford. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 125,000.00 (€ 111,487.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sanford Robinson Gifford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Lake Twilight in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 2,900,000.00 (€ 2,601,130.15).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 19th Century American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Indians at Sunset (Sunset in the Wilderness) von Sanford Robinson Gifford zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 111.487,69) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sanford Robinson Gifford erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Lake Twilight im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.900.000,00 (€ 2.601.130,15).
