In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction The Gordon Collection of Portrait Miniatures, which included the work Augustus Keppel, 1st Viscount Keppel (1725-1786), in flag officer's undress uniform 1767-83, gold-bordered blue coat, gold-embroidered white facings, gold buttons, white frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue by Samuel Shelley. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,000.00 (€ 7,001.29), 67% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel Shelley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Aston sisters: Lady Legard and Mrs Hedges as Flora and Ceres, their arms around one another, in white dresses and pink and green stoles, ears of wheat and flowers in their upswept powdered hair, one sister holding a basket of fruit and the other, which sold at auction in April 2002 for GBP 16,450.00 (€ 26,615.67).

Im November 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Gordon Collection of Portrait Miniatures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Augustus Keppel, 1st Viscount Keppel (1725-1786), in flag officer's undress uniform 1767-83, gold-bordered blue coat, gold-embroidered white facings, gold buttons, white frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue von Samuel Shelley zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 7.001,29) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
