Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Samuel Shelley could be acquired at Sothebys in London in December 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III auction, the work Portrait Of A Mother And Child, 1793 changed hands for GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,625.09) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Shelley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Aston sisters: Lady Legard and Mrs Hedges as Flora and Ceres, their arms around one another, in white dresses and pink and green stoles, ears of wheat and flowers in their upswept powdered hair, one sister holding a basket of fruit and the other in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 16,450.00 (€ 26,615.67
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Aston sisters: Lady Legard and Mrs Hedges as Flora and Ceres, their arms around one another, in white dresses and pink and green stoles, ears of wheat and flowers in their upswept powdered hair, one sister holding a basket of fruit and the other im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.450,00 (€ 26.615,67).
