Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of A Young Cadet, Circa 1795 by Samuel Shelley for GBP 1,062.00 (€ 1,255.16). This price was achieved in the auction The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures, Part III at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Shelley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Aston sisters: Lady Legard and Mrs Hedges as Flora and Ceres, their arms around one another, in white dresses and pink and green stoles, ears of wheat and flowers in their upswept powdered hair, one sister holding a basket of fruit and the other in April 2002 with an auction result of GBP 16,450.00 (€ 26,615.67
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Aston sisters: Lady Legard and Mrs Hedges as Flora and Ceres, their arms around one another, in white dresses and pink and green stoles, ears of wheat and flowers in their upswept powdered hair, one sister holding a basket of fruit and the other im April 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.450,00 (€ 26.615,67).
