Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View of the Thames at Wapping by Samuel Scott was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 162,500.00 (€ 190,564.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel Scott - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping At Anchor In The Thames Estuary, Near Wapping, which sold at auction in July 2016 for GBP 473,000.00 (€ 562,026.33).
