In January 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work A View Of Alexander Pope'S Villa At Twickenham, On The Banks Of The Thames by Samuel Scott for USD 75,000.00 (€ 69,483.05). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Samuel Scott have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shipping At Anchor In The Thames Estuary, Near Wapping in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 473,000.00 (€ 562,026.33).
