This artwork by Samuel Scott achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2010. In the Maritime Art auction, the work Stern quarter view of a Royal Yacht at anchor off a Mediterranean port, with her escort firing a salute beside her sold for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,937.48) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Scott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shipping At Anchor In The Thames Estuary, Near Wapping in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 473,000.00 (€ 562,026.33).
