Auction result well in line with expectations

The work The Royal William (formerly the Prince) firing a salute as she shortens sail when arriving at the fleet anchorage by Samuel Scott was sold in the Important Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in October 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 34,100.00 (€ 48,969.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Scott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shipping At Anchor In The Thames Estuary, Near Wapping in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 473,000.00 (€ 562,026.33).

Die Arbeit The Royal William (formerly the Prince) firing a salute as she shortens sail when arriving at the fleet anchorage von Samuel Scott wurde im Oktober 2007 in der Auktion Important Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 34.100,00 (€ 48.969,84) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
