This artwork by Samuel John Peploe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2021. In the Modern British & Irish Art auction, the work Cassis sold for GBP 462,700.00 (€ 543,253.34) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 250,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel John Peploe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life with Tulips, which sold at auction in June 2018 for GBP 992,750.00 (€ 1,121,976.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 85 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Samuel John Peploe erzielte im November 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British & Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Cassis für GBP 462.700,00 (€ 543.253,34) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 250.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Samuel John Peploe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life with Tulips beobachtet, die im Juni 2018 für GBP 992.750,00 (€ 1.121.976,68) versteigert wurde.
