Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work River Landscape by Samuel Colman for USD 15,000.00 (€ 10,652.65). This price was achieved in the auction American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Colman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Becalmed in the Highlands in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 505,000.00 (€ 343,818.08).
