Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dance '72 by Sam Gilliam was auctioned at Bonhams in Paris in October this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,096.00 (€ 3,875.85) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sam Gilliam achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lady Day II in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 2,172,500.00 (€ 1,918,661.13).
