Auction result misses estimated price range
In August 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work Ship in Venice Canal; and Sailing Vessels in Venetian Canal by Salvatore Colacicco for USD 1,320.00 (€ 1,031.81). This price was achieved in the auction The House Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Salvatore Colacicco - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The American ships Ontario and Liberty both depicted off Naples (one illustrated), which sold at auction in May 2010 for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,100.74).
