Auction result well in line with expectations
The work By The Water'S Edge by Roy Petley was sold in the 20th Century British & Irish Art auction at Sothebys in Olympia in June 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,958.81) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Roy Petley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Beach At Dueville, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 3,840.00 (€ 5,702.52).

Die Arbeit By The Water'S Edge von Roy Petley wurde im Juni 2007 in der Auktion 20th Century British & Irish Art bei Sothebys in Olympia versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.320,00 (€ 1.958,81) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Roy Petley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Beach At Dueville beobachtet, die im November 2006 für GBP 3.840,00 (€ 5.702,52) versteigert wurde.
