This artwork by Roy Petley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2010. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Bank holiday, Tuilleries sold for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,807.83) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Roy Petley; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Beach At Dueville sold at auction in November 2006 with the realized price of GBP 3,840.00 (€ 5,702.52).
