Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Man with a cross by Robert Sargent Austin was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2006. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 300.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 336.00 (€ 502.01). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Robert Sargent Austin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work a collection of etchings comprising: The Bride; The Curtain; The Lace-Seller; Evening; Café Scene; Sea Bouquet; Munich and At Prayer, on wove and laid papers, each signed in pencil, with margins, all apparently in good condition, three framed, which sold at auction in May 2005 for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,948.73).
