Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The charge of the 8th Kings Royal light Dragoons, Laswarree by Richard Simkin was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,772.92) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Simkin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 10th Prince of Wales's Own Royal Hussars; and three others, which sold at auction in January 2001 for USD 5,287.50 (€ 5,680.60).
