This price was achieved in the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 350.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Simkin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 10th Prince of Wales's Own Royal Hussars; and three others, which sold at auction in January 2001 for USD 5,287.50 (€ 5,680.60).
