Sold at the upper estimate price
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction The Gordon Collection of Portrait Miniatures, which included the work Mary Plumptre (d. 1832), later Lady Glyn, as a child, in white dress with lace trim, white lace bonnet with blue ribbon in her upswept hair by Richard Crosse. The auction ended at the price of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 2,100.39), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Crosse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of John Crosse (1721-1776), The Artist'S Father, Circa 1770 in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 52,500.00 (€ 62,048.86).
