Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman, in dark blue coat, gold-edged embroidered waistcoat and white frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue by Richard Crosse was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2007. It changed hands for a price of GBP 750.00 (€ 1,050.19) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Crosse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of John Crosse (1721-1776), The Artist'S Father, Circa 1770 in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 52,500.00 (€ 62,048.86).
