Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction The Gordon Collection of Portrait Miniatures, which included the work A gentleman, in brown coat, white cravat and bag wig by Richard Crosse. The price achieved of GBP 500.00 (€ 700.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Crosse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of John Crosse (1721-1776), The Artist'S Father, Circa 1770 in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 52,500.00 (€ 62,048.86).
