In June last year Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction, which included the work Éléphant d'Asie (mendiant) by Rembrandt Bugatti. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,850,000.00 (€ 2,149,173.75), 54% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Rembrandt Bugatti; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Babouin Sacré Hamadryas sold at auction in May 2015 with the realized price of USD 2,770,000.00 (€ 2,519,556.12).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 54 % übertroffen
Im Juni letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Éléphant d'Asie (mendiant) von Rembrandt Bugatti zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.850.000,00 (€ 2.149.173,75) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Rembrandt Bugatti; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Babouin Sacré Hamadryas im Mai 2015 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 2.770.000,00 (€ 2.519.556,12).
