Upper estimate price exceeded by 26 %.
The work Coney Island by Red Grooms was sold in the Contemporary Edition auction at Christies in New York in March last year. It achieved a price of USD 1,512.00 (€ 1,363.02), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 26%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Red Grooms achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 83,382.61).
