A top price for Red Grooms - as previously expected
In May 2001 Christies in New York held the auction Post War (Day Sale), which included the work Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing by Red Grooms. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 70,500.00 (€ 83,382.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing is the most expensive artwork by Red Grooms that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Mai 2001 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post War (Day Sale) durch, in der auch die Arbeit Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing von Red Grooms zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 70.000,00 – 90.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 70.500,00 (€ 83.382,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing das teuerste Kunstwerk von Red Grooms, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
