Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Barbara by Red Grooms was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,190.00 (€ 6,903.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Red Grooms achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 83,382.61).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Barbara von Red Grooms kam im Juli 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 6.903,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Red Grooms erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Joltin' Joe Takes a Swing im Mai 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.500,00 (€ 83.382,61).
