Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2008 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Study of two tigers lying down by Raymond John Vandenbergh. The price achieved of GBP 562.50 (€ 680.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Raymond John Vandenbergh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Three studies of lions and tigers, which sold at auction in July 2008 for GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,905.77).
