Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2010 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Study of a lion's head; and Study of a sleeping lioness by Raymond John Vandenbergh. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 437.50 (€ 504.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Raymond John Vandenbergh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Three studies of lions and tigers, which sold at auction in July 2008 for GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,905.77).
