Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Martha sight 9 1/2 x 5 3/4 in. framed 19 x 15 in. by Ray Swanson was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 637.50 (€ 595.91). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ray Swanson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Headin' Through Dry Country in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 97,000.00 (€ 62,339.33).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Martha sight 9 1/2 x 5 3/4 in. framed 19 x 15 in. von Ray Swanson im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 637,50 (€ 595,91) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ray Swanson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Headin' Through Dry Country im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 97.000,00 (€ 62.339,33).
