Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Ray Johnson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2021. In the First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online auction, the work Totem sold for GBP 32,500.00 (€ 38,179.13) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ray Johnson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Comb sold at auction in March 2021 with the realized price of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,800.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ray Johnson erzielte im März 2021 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online wurde die Arbeit Totem für GBP 32.500,00 (€ 38.179,13) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 12.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Ray Johnson; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Comb im März 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.800,26).
