Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Birds by Ray Johnson was worth GBP 43,750.00 (€ 51,394.98) to a buyer in March 2021. This price was achieved in the auction First Open: Post-War & Contemporary Art Online at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ray Johnson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Comb sold at auction in March 2021 with the realized price of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,800.26).
