Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Woman sitting); Untitled (Young Mother and child) (2 works) by Raphael Soyer was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in August this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 76.80 (€ 70.86). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Raphael Soyer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Passerby in December 2009 with an auction result of USD 86,500.00 (€ 60,354.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Woman sitting); Untitled (Young Mother and child) (2 works) von Raphael Soyer im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 76,80 (€ 70,86) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Raphael Soyer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Passerby im Dezember 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 86.500,00 (€ 60.354,45).
