This artwork by Rajendra Dhawan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March last year. In the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak auction, the work without title sold for USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,679.26) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,500.00. Admittedly, works by Rajendra Dhawan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Repetitive Breathing in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 18,500.00 (€ 23,532.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 80 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Rajendra Dhawan erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works from the Collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für USD 6.300,00 (€ 5.679,26) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rajendra Dhawan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Repetitive Breathing im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.500,00 (€ 23.532,81).
