Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Plague, from 'In Our Time: Covers for a Small Library After the Life for the Most Part' by R. B. Kitaj was sold in the Prints & MultiplesPart I: (Lots 1-250) Part II: The Arthur N. Gilbert Collection of Important Prints by James Gillray (1756-1815)(Lots 251-363) auction at Bonhams in London in December 2020. The price achieved of GBP 637.50 (€ 712.14) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by R. B. Kitaj achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Waiting in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 317,000.00 (€ 449,399.53).

Die Arbeit The Plague, from 'In Our Time: Covers for a Small Library After the Life for the Most Part' von R. B. Kitaj wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Prints & MultiplesPart I: (Lots 1-250) Part II: The Arthur N. Gilbert Collection of Important Prints by James Gillray (1756-1815)(Lots 251-363) bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 637,50 (€ 712,14) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von R. B. Kitaj erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Waiting im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 317.000,00 (€ 449.399,53).
