This artwork by R. B. Kitaj achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2015. In the Contemporary Art Evening Auction auction, the work Waiting sold for GBP 317,000.00 (€ 449,399.53) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 150,000.00. This high result makes Waiting the most expensive artwork by R. B. Kitaj that we have observed at auctions so far.
