Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View Of Cairo by Prosper Marilhat was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,313.00 (€ 3,373.76). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Prosper Marilhat achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Travellers at an Oasis in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 83,650.00 (€ 120,209.60).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit View Of Cairo von Prosper Marilhat im Juni 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.313,00 (€ 3.373,76) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Prosper Marilhat erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Travellers at an Oasis im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 83.650,00 (€ 120.209,60).
