In January 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century European Art, which included the work View Of Cairo by Prosper Marilhat. The »bidding war« ended at USD 13,750.00 (€ 9,264.87), 53% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Prosper Marilhat achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Travellers at an Oasis in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 83,650.00 (€ 120,209.60).

Im Januar 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit View Of Cairo von Prosper Marilhat zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 9.264,87) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Prosper Marilhat erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Travellers at an Oasis im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 83.650,00 (€ 120.209,60).
