Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sunset At Syracuse by Prosper Marilhat was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2008. It changed hands for a price of USD 67,000.00 (€ 45,145.21) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Prosper Marilhat - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Travellers at an Oasis, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 83,650.00 (€ 120,209.60).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 67.000,00 (€ 45.145,21) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00.
