The work The rape of Europe by Pieter D'Hont was sold in the Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings auction at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2002. The price achieved of EUR 2,868.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 2,500.00 – 3,000.00. Other works by Pieter D'Hont have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in December 2010 the work Dutch anne Frank was auctioned for EUR 5,625.00.
