Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young lady, seated in white dress with pleated and frilled sleeves, pale blue belt, gold-drop earrings, her dark hair upswept in a plait, holding a small book in her right hand by Pierre-Édouard Dagoty was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 919.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Pierre-Édouard Dagoty have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Two young ladies: one lady, full face in white dress, frilled lace cuffs and blue sash, a crucifix suspended from a black ribbon around her neck, drop gold earrings, her dark hair upswept in a filet; the other lady, facing right in white dress with b in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,27
