When the work Jeune Femme Au Peigne De Corail, À Mi-Corps De Face, En Robe Blanche À Taille Haute Et Boucle De Ceinture Assortie Au Peigne, Vers 1815 by Pierre-Édouard Dagoty was auctioned at Artcurial in Paris in February 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 600.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at EUR 2,231.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pierre-Édouard Dagoty - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two young ladies: one lady, full face in white dress, frilled lace cuffs and blue sash, a crucifix suspended from a black ribbon around her neck, drop gold earrings, her dark hair upswept in a filet; the other lady, facing right in white dress with b, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,279.24
