Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A young gentleman, in dark blue coat, white striped waistcoat and knotted cravat with jewelled gold tie-pin, brown curling hair and sideburns by Pierre-Édouard Dagoty was sold in the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction at Christies in London in June 2008. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,264.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Pierre-Édouard Dagoty have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Two young ladies: one lady, full face in white dress, frilled lace cuffs and blue sash, a crucifix suspended from a black ribbon around her neck, drop gold earrings, her dark hair upswept in a filet; the other lady, facing right in white dress with b in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,27
