Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2012 Christies in New York held the auction The Art of France, which included the work The Happy Encounter by Philippe Mercier. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,500.00 (€ 24,898.49) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philippe Mercier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 278,658.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2012 führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Art of France durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Happy Encounter von Philippe Mercier zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 24.898,49) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philippe Mercier erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch im Januar 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 386.500,00 (€ 278.658,98).
