Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Saint Joseph by Philippe de Champaigne was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2018. The price achieved of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,711.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philippe de Champaigne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Family with a Sparrow in June 2012 with an auction result of USD 578,500.00 (€ 456,662.46).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit Saint Joseph von Philippe de Champaigne wurde im Dezember 2018 in der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 15.000,00 (€ 16.711,33) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philippe de Champaigne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Holy Family with a Sparrow im Juni 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 578.500,00 (€ 456.662,46).
