This artwork by Philippe de Champaigne achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2016. In the Master Paintings auction, the work Portrait Of A Man, Bust Length sold for USD 56,250.00 (€ 50,516.39) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Philippe de Champaigne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Holy Family with a Sparrow in June 2012 with an auction result of USD 578,500.00 (€ 456,662.46).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Philippe de Champaigne erzielte im Mai 2016 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Master Paintings wurde die Arbeit Portrait Of A Man, Bust Length für USD 56.250,00 (€ 50.516,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Philippe de Champaigne auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Holy Family with a Sparrow im Juni 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 578.500,00 (€ 456.662,46).
