This artwork by Philippe de Champaigne achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2014. In the Old Master Paintings Part I auction, the work Portrait Of An Échevin Of Paris, Half-Length sold for USD 173,000.00 (€ 128,148.15) - well above the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philippe de Champaigne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Holy Family with a Sparrow, which sold at auction in June 2012 for USD 578,500.00 (€ 456,662.46).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Philippe de Champaigne erzielte im Januar 2014 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Paintings Part I wurde die Arbeit Portrait Of An Échevin Of Paris, Half-Length für USD 173.000,00 (€ 128.148,15) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Philippe de Champaigne mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Holy Family with a Sparrow beobachtet, die im Juni 2012 für USD 578.500,00 (€ 456.662,46) versteigert wurde.
