This artwork by Philippe de Champaigne achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2004. In the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings auction, the work An view of Jerusalem showing the Temple of Solomon sold for USD 107,550.00 (€ 86,371.67) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Philippe de Champaigne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Holy Family with a Sparrow in June 2012 with an auction result of USD 578,500.00 (€ 456,662.46).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Philippe de Champaigne erzielte im Januar 2004 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings wurde die Arbeit An view of Jerusalem showing the Temple of Solomon für USD 107.550,00 (€ 86.371,67) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Philippe de Champaigne auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Holy Family with a Sparrow im Juni 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 578.500,00 (€ 456.662,46).
