The result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 14,176.64) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philippe de Champaigne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Holy Family with a Sparrow in June 2012 with an auction result of USD 578,500.00 (€ 456,662.46).

Die Arbeit Saint Benedict miraculously discovering a hidden fountain von Philippe de Champaigne kam im Juli 2015 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 14.176,64) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philippe de Champaigne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Holy Family with a Sparrow im Juni 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 578.500,00 (€ 456.662,46).
